Peru: Heavy rains - "1,512 emergencies

In his speech during a conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) on Tuesday, Indeci Chief Carlos Yaez revealed that a total of 1,512 emergencies have been reported across the country.

 

Yaez explained that the regions with the highest incidence of emergencies are: Ayacucho (389), Huancavelica (199), Hunuco (112), Apurimac (108), Arequipa (77), Cusco (72), Cajamarca (72), Lima (58), and Ancash (53).

 

Also on the list are Junn with 50 emergencies, Pasco (44), La Libertad (43), Piura (42), Amazonas (33), Moquegua (23), Puno (21), Ica (18), Ucayali (17), Tumbes (14), Loreto (13), San Martn (12), Madre de Dios (12), Tacna (10), Lambayeque 2, and Callao (2).

 

Based on the type of emergency, Yaez stated that 984 have been caused by heavy rains, 118 by rough weather, 115 by floods, 106 by hailstorms, 83 by mudslides, 64 by landslides, 21 by the collapse of hills, 10 by electric storms, 1 by snowfall, and 4 by other factors."
