PLUG up 27% after hours

I can't find any specific news, so I'm left thinking it's entirely due to the democratic senate win.  Maybe it'll bleed over to XBC tomorrow.  Talk about stars aligning with the TSX timing.

As I recall, Plug was listed among HyGear's former customer, was it not? Any association with Plug certainly can't hurt.

08/06/2016Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG), a leader in providing energy solutions that change the way the world moves, and HyGear, supplier of cost-effective industrial gases, today announce they are partnering to supply HyGear’s hydrogen generation technology to Plug Power fuel cell customers globally. The first deployments are scheduled to be installed in the fourth quarter of 2016 at a ...more

This could be read as a negative.  If Plug kicked the tires on the technology back in 2016, and it worked famously well, then why didn't they just buy HyGear themselves?   As a private company with a prospective offer to acquire from Xebec, you would have to think HyGear gave Plug the opportunity to counter the Xebec offer, especially if Plug and HyGear had a strong ...more

Here are excerpts from your posts since you first started posting here 8 days ago:  So Raymond James issues an upgrade from $7 to $12 on the same day their subscription receipts are received, causing the stock to jump by 13%.  Shows what a dirty business investment banking is.  Wonder if they're now privately telling their biggest clients to sell now that they've goosed the ...more

My appologies if that sounded like I was being condescending. I should have just said I totally disagree with your post.     There are many reasons why HyGear may have turned down an offer from Plug. It was a private company and it was at their discretion with whom they wanted to be assimilated, not the least of which involves interpersonal relationships.      Perhaps ...more

Or, perhaps they did and he didn't want it. Why would he?, he'd be going back to where he left, for whatever reason. This is very very interesting.

Yes, I will certainly agree that I am cynical and skeptical as any investor should be. I think this board will be well served if there are dissenting opinions and active, thoughtful and hopefully respectful conversations from different perspectives.  When everyone is cheerleading, I get really nervous.
Comment by tamaracktop on Jan 08, 2021 5:53pm
Understood. Personally I don't consider myself a cheerleader, but I know exactly where you're comong from.
Comment by Resilience19 on Jan 08, 2021 6:10pm
The long crowd here has been level-headed Ly cheerleading for the past year's, not days, based on almost systematically flawless execution by Xebec management. As such, many here first bought in, over the past 2-3 years at SP of less than $1/sh. In short, given only the very recent XBC activity alone. So don't be worried about longs who've been here's cheerleading. You only be ...more

I agree with you ARA.... however, those who are the "real" investors in this company, or any company for that matter, and have done the necessary work to understand the underlying industry, it's potential in terms of growth and this company's relative strength in that industry together with it's capacity to expand that strength going forward will ignore any cheerleading ...more

A number of reasons could have influenced PLUG not buying HyGear in 2016, namely  the fact that they only had a mc of 0.6B at the time, perhaps had other things on their hands (i.e. getting their own tech to work), perhaps its management lacked the vision to comprehend the true value of HyGear etc. It's rather easy to raise such questions in retrospect (5 years down the road) but not so ...more

Hygear probably turned down Plug due to interpersonal relationship as TT mentionned. Sorschak is a name that is most prevalent in :Germany & it's highest density in Austria. Thr spoken language in Netherlands is Dutch and sometimes said to be in-between English and German. In Austria they speak German too. This move was planned a long long long time ago.

In January 2019, the South Korea government announced the Hydrogen Economy Roadmap through 2040, with ambitious goals, including: over 5MM tons of hydrogen per year, over 6MM fuel cell EVs, 1,200 refilling stations and 15 GW of fuel cell power generation, and expects the cumulative economic value of its hydrogen economy to reach ~$40Bn by 2040. Plug Power has proven its ability to scale a hydrogen ...more
