RE:RE:RE:RE:A StewartThere are a few of ways to drill a spot like that, directional with wedging is one option, down the hole motors, Devico type tools, barges and fly drills.
Wedging you get 1.5 degrees kick at 15 meter intervals normally, so you need quite a length of hole to get much movement, more suited to deeper holes 1,000 - 3,000 m's.
Down the hole motors and Devico type tools generally destroy the section of the kick which is designed to curve gradually so as not to stress the rods, the kick can be anywhere from a few meters to 100-150 m's, not good where missing meters could make or break a mine but these types could be used as well.
A Barge could could be used. Probably the best option if Grasset was to be drilled year round.
A chopper job could put a few land holes in quickly without any road building.
Any of these options are more time consuming and expensive than dragging a rig around and popping holes down. When drilling short holes around 400-500 m's or less drilling a fresh hole is often more cost effective.
A combination of any of these options could be used as well depending on the budget and urgency.
Just need good results, getting core samples is not an issue.
