You track the exact holdings in each of the 15 firms they own ? Via their quarterly filings ?   Don't they chnage them from tome to time .. plus write (undisclosed) CALL options ?

Yes at yesterday's close that was the value. Since it's closed end fund it doesn't have to match selling price.

DFN unit nav to AUG 13 = apporx; $15.32

Spreadsheet showing the loss has narrowed to 8 cents since JULY 31 ...  DFN common shares closed at $5.10 today  and at a discount, which is strange territory for DFN..

Only showing a loss of a penny since  friday, and most of the financials were red. However the bottom part of the holdings did quite well, and  kept the losses from being bigger. DFN commons ...more

DFN unit nav to AUg 9 = approx: $15.20

So spreadsheet showing a loss of 20 cents since JULY 31 , and the bounce back this week has given some breathing room.  DFN commons finished the day @ $5.08 so discounted 12 cents.

I like both of those,  as they have 2 of the higher payouts in quadraverst preferreds. LFE.preferreds and BK are decent too. However i have been traading some others, like TRP  FLOATING PREF ...more

The S&P500 has been going up 23 months and unless it can get above 5500 quickly, then it's in a downtrend. Not likely to switch to an uptrend until after the US election, and even then watch ...more
