They are losing more in market capitalization by non-closure of this festering issue than the value of closing this deal so it apears to to be a battle of the ego and not rational.
IF RIM would just settle in the spirit of the benefit of the doubt, the jump in share price would pay for the cost of any settlement IMO.
I wonder if any insiders are playing the short game? It is difficult to comprehend how poorly RIM has mismanaged this festering attack....stubbornness is not a professional virtue IMO.
It is time to stop costing share holders, refocus on the business plan, and deal effectively with adversity in a timely manner in future.
