He has also held directorships with several companies in Canada and the United States, such as BC Lions Football Club, Vancouver Canucks Hockey Club and Inland Publishing Co. A community leader, Mr. Winnett was awarded the Governor-General's Medal commemorating Canada's 125th Anniversary for "making a significant contribution to Canada." He was a senior consultant and CFO to the B.C. Treaty Commission, negotiating Aboriginal Land Claims for the first three years of operation. As a member of several government advisory committees, he examined a variety of topics including taxation, transportation, hi-tech education, fisheries, and economic development.
