In particular, he mentions what if China invested 5-10% in gold reserves or individual investors invested 5% of the 40 trillion market place in gold reserves. Most advisors suggest a 5-10% weighting in gold in a diversified portfolio. So I'd be interested, and it's quite a glaring omission by the author, what the current average portfolio weighting is or what China's reserves are at. Say if the investment world is already at a 5-10% weighting it would suggest no further investment, not an additional 5%. Which, of course, would have significantly different ramifications to the gold price. It's a shame he didn't do further research prior to writing this article, because it lacks context for his argument.
