Diamonds North Increases Kimberlite Tally to 22 on Amaruk
10/10/2007
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Oct 10, 2007 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) --
Diamonds North Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:DDN) announces the discovery of an additional six new kimberlites during a second phase of drilling on its 100% owned Amaruk property in the Pelly Bay Diamond District of Nunavut. This year, 17 new kimberlites have been discovered on the property for a total of 22. Approximately 500 identified targets remain untested in this diamondiferous field. Representative samples from the new kimberlites have been collected for diamond analysis.
"A total of 17 new kimberlites discovered on a proven diamondiferous property - I think our chances of discovering Canada's next large diamond mine have increased dramatically. The microdiamond results from these kimberlites, especially those from within the Tuktu cluster, could be the catalyst event for Diamonds North," says Mark Kolebaba, President and CEO.
Kimberlite Discoveries - 2007 Phase II Drilling Highlights:
- Five new kimberlites (Tuktu-5 through Tuktu-9) have been discovered increasing the Tuktu kimberlite cluster to 9 this year. The Tuktu cluster is 15-kilometres west of Qavvik-1. Abundant diamond indicator minerals associated with these kimberlites suggest excellent diamond potential.
- The discovery of Beluga-2, near the Beluga-1 kimberlite (drilled in 2006) confirms kimberlite clustering in the area.
Table 1 - 2007 Kimberlite Summary
---------------------------------------------------------------
Kimberlite Location Relative
Drill Hole Sampled to Qavvik-1
Kimberlite Inclination (Metres) (distance & direction)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Tuktu-5 Vertical 42.7 19 km W
---------------------------------------------------------------
Tuktu-6 Vertical 70.1 17 KM W
---------------------------------------------------------------
Tuktu-7 -85 degrees 79.3 13 km W
---------------------------------------------------------------
Tuktu-8 Vertical 38.7 15 km W
---------------------------------------------------------------
Tuktu-9 Vertical 57.9 15 km W
---------------------------------------------------------------
Beluga-2 Vertical 30.5 17 km SE

Representative kimberlite samples will be obtained from the above reverse
circulation drill cutting intervals for microdiamond analysis. Directions
and distances are approximate. Size of kimberlite occurrences have not yet
been determined.
The diamond results for all 17 new kimberlites discovered in 2007 will be used to prioritize further evaluation and bulk sampling.
