Question on the shorts?

Question on the shorts?Over the past year, all I've heard is that there is a huge short position on this stock. I believe to in the range of 8-10 million shares. If this is the case and shorts have to cover after a certain amount of time, 1. why is it we don't see big volume days when the shorts have to cover? 2. Is it public(do we know) the deadline for when and how many shares have to be covered? 3. Does it normally drive the price up when they do cover? Thanks.
