Coal PlayThe long-term forecast for coal is for continued strength on the back of
surging demand from emerging economies like China, India and even
Brazil, which consumed almost 9% more coal than last year. The
continued strength of coal as a preferred energy choice comes despite a
growing push toward renewable fuels and other green energy sources,
including nuclear. The reality is that the world is slowly and begrudgingly
coming around to the idea that coal is the cheapest and most bountiful
ready energy source and will be vital to power the world’s increasing
demands, which are estimated to rise by more than 50% by 2030.
