The Versatility in Coal Utilization

The Versatility in Coal UtilizationThe key to modern use of coal is the Gasification process. Once the components in coal are gasified, the undesirables, like sulfur and mercury, are separated to produce a clean syngas and then the wonders happen:

1)    Syngas used as a clean fuel.
2)    Extract CO2 to produce pure hydrogen, a fuel and chemical.
3)    Produce synthetic liquid fuels for vehicle and aviation.
4)    Produce methanol, a fuel as well as feedstock for a wide variety of chemicals.

So the bashers on BBs and even the wannabe experts on news publications, who have been sneering at the Saskatchewan coal discovery as cheap thermal coal, no export market, Ontario shutting coal plants, makes no sense…….should try to sound a little more intelligent and up-to-date from now on.

Coal is such a versatile hydrocarbon resource that goes far beyond generating electricity for the local communities. Think about it folks. What are the potentials of this coal field when its size gradually emerges to be very large?
