From Johnboy one of our Board posters

Gentlemen,

Unexpectedly early Saturday morning my wife delivered two baby girls.  Julia weighed in at 3lb 5oz and Grace was comparably smaller at 2lb 9oz.  We did not expect their arrival since Tina was only 29 weeks pregnant.

The labour pains began on Friday but were confused for a viral infection, which our family physician determined as root cause.

After many hours of pain and agony, we realized that something was definitely amiss, and so an ambulance was dispatched to our home.  Paramedics quickly determined that Tina was in labour and immediately rushed her to the Brampton Hospital just minutes away.

We were very fortunate to have called when we did because she was far along.  A delivery team from Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and McMaster University were quickly mobilized to help out with the two premature births’s which took place at 6:01am.  Words cannot describe how quickly and efficiently everyone came together as a functioning team; the care was unbelievable.

Mom did extremely well but dad on the other hand?  Well...  I was a complete freak’n train wreck!

As you can imagine the complications at 29 weeks are sizeable, but both babies began breathing well, and we remain optimistic about their well-being.

Two airplanes were momentarily dispatched and each child was assigned a separate transport team.  The baby’s were air-lifted from Toronto Intl. to Ottawa since there were no rooms available at Toronto Sick Kids, Mount Sinai, McMaster, Hamilton hospital etc…

I apologize for this generic letter, but under the circumstances, I’ve very little time.  We will be departing for Ottawa as soon as possible and I am cancelling all prior commitments and meetings for this week/possibly next week also.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

John

P.S. Both babies endured the flight very well, and are developing nicely.

I will be in touch with all of you in-good-time.
