when the price of JIN fell that much most/all other commidty stocks were getting destroyed as well in the market slaughter of last year.

The Chinese are getting it stuck to them by PCS in the pricing of their potash contracts and they are pissed.  They likely want a piece of MAA so they don't have to rely on PCS for their needs as much.  However in terms of being able to wait, China can't afford not to buy fertilizer for even one year let alone many, so they must be in a hurry to get their potash pipeline set up.  Therefore, I see them tripping over themselves to get this deal done.  Why wouldn't they want first rights to MAA production?
