OnApril 9, 2009, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum for Ecuadorconfirmedto Ecometals Ltd. by written notification that, withreference to thoseconcessions which the company retained according toarticle No. 8 of theconstitutional mandate No. 6 of the new mininglaw, the company isentitled to keep those mining rights and isauthorized to reinitiate itsoperations.

Fran Scola, on behalf of the company, comments: "Thisis verywelcome news for Ecometals. The decision recognizes us as aseriousresponsible exploration company in Ecuador, immediatelyfollowingpermits given to Kinross Aurelian and Corrientes Resources. Itwillenable us to continue our exploration activities in Ecuador."
