HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 20, 2009) - Ucore Uranium Inc. (TSX VENTURE:UCU) is pleased to announce high concentrations of heavy and light rare earth elements from surface samples originating from the Sunday Trend of Bokan-Dotson Ridge. The samples were collected in the remote Sunday Lake Zone to the north of Bokan Mountain and south of Moira Sound. This is an area that has not been previously assayed and which has never been drilled.
A summary of assay results from selected surface samples from the Sunday Lake Zone are listed below:
-----------------------------------------------
Sample # % LREO % HREO % TREO-----------------------------------------------BM20 7.19 2.39 9.58
-----------------------------------------------
BM54 0.37 15.17 15.54
-----------------------------------------------
LREO equals Light rare earth elements as oxide: La, Ce, Pr, Nd, and Sm HREO equals Heavy rare earth elements as oxide: Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm,
Yb, Lu + YTREO equals Total rare earth oxide: + LREO + HREO including Y2O3
"The new assay results from the Sunday Lake Zone are very promising, as they represent a substantial increase in the rare earth potential of the overall Bokan - Dotson Ridge project" saidJim McKenzie, President & CEO of Ucore. "This zone, totally separate from the promisingDotson Trend, increases the total potential mineralization to be explored within the Bokan - Dotson Ridge Project."
The Sunday Lake Zone is part of a north-trending structural corridor of multiple uranium and rare earth prospects radial to the northwest margin of the Bokan Mountain peralkaline intrusive complex. Samples reported in this press release consist of altered and oxidized granitic subcrop collected from hand trenches at the south end of the mineralized trend.
Ucore's 2009 field program, presently under way, will focus on geologic mapping, structural interpretations, magnetic surveys, radiometric surveys, and portable X-Ray fluorescence testing to select the best rare earth targets for a drill program planned to commence in the next few weeks. Although the presence of rare earths at Dotson Ridge has been known since the 1950's, 2009 will be the first season where rare earths are the prime exploration focus.
NI 43-101 Compliance
Surface samples were collected by professional members of Ucore's exploration team. The site of each surface samples was recorded and described and the sample given a unique number. The samples were transported by commercial freight carriers to the Activation Laboratories analytical facility in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. As part of a rigorous QA/QC program, blanks, standards, and duplicates were inserted into the sample train in the field and in the laboratory. Analyses were by a combination of inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry and X-ray fluorescence. Insufficient structural information is available to make a conclusive statement on structure.Harmen Keyser, P.Geol. (NWT), Ucore's Vice President of Project Development and a qualified person in accordance with NI 43-101, has reviewed and approved the technical content of this press release.
