RE: RE: RE: The future is anything but friendly...Hey TechPerson, for once we agree on something__your response to BushHog that is!__LOL!
Actually it also looks like we have reached some common ground and come to the state of agreeing to disagree on the pension issue.__enough said on that.
However, you continue to be interested in my view about the outsourcing of Telus Canadian jobs overseas.__I will probably come across as pretty callous to you on this; however, the way I look at this issue is from the big picture perspective.
Using an analogy__it is sort of like dying__it really doesn't matter much after it has happened from what a person died from__when you are dead, then you are dead, simple as that.
Similarily, whether a Canadian job is permanently lost due to overseas outsourcing or permanently lost here in Canada due to downsizing__it really doesn't make any difference to the worker who is affected__they have permanently lost their job, simple as that.
And, as you know, over the past 5 years Telus has eliminated 1000s of jobs, especially in 2002 when they had their near death experience.__Thus on the scale of things, the 100s of jobs sent overseas is just a very small part of the overall management of labour costs by Telus management in their ongoing efforts to manage the business bottom line__Thus the Union obviously has a role in all this since labour costs will continue to be a major factor in this regard__the bottom line that is.
Furthermore, I would say that the issue of overseas outsourcing is a highly divisive, emotional one__and certainly will continue to be a very effective rallying cause routinely used by the Unions to agitate their workers into action.__And I wouldn't be at all surprised that it also is deliberately done by Managers, not so much for the so called savings to the bottom line, but to send a message across the Union bow so to speak.
Finally__and this has been already pointed out several times in the past whenever you have brought up the issue of losing Candian jobs to overseas outsourcing__it is somewhat hypocritical of you in that you invariably will already own and will continue to buy countless products and services from non-Canadian sources.
So best quit trying to wrap yourself with that Save Canadian Jobs flag!
