"CNOOC Africa has drilled over 4.5 km"

"CNOOC Africa has drilled over 4.5 km"China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Africa has drilled over 4.5 kilometres of its Boghal-1 well in Kenya’s Block 9.

Written March 11th. I would think that's pretty accurate, taking into regard the drilling according to all indications has progressed slowly the deeper they get. The last official report was 4.45 km on February 24th, and I interpret the text above that they were already in the 4.5 km interval. I'm just making guesses here, but I think the reports since NOCK published the exact depth on February 24th is more along the lines of "in the 4.5 km interval" or "in the 4.6 km interval" to media upon request. Assuming the article was written some days before it was published, we know at least 55+ meters have been drilled since February 24th because the article says "over 4.5 km". No more than 155 meters, though, since that'd make it "over 4.6 km". The article was out on the 11th. Who knows when the information was requested for the article? Could have been many days earlier. Because it's progressed slowly, we should factor in slow progress, probably due to stoppages which would result in more careful drilling, so I think we're in the very late 4.5 km or early 4.6 km interval today. All guesswork. However, I'm convinced we're not breaking into the next zone before 1.5-2 weeks from now, and it looks like their original prediction of reaching target depth in April was accurate, in spite of the speedy progress up to 3.2 km in late December, as mentioned in a news release by Vanoil.
