Airborne geophysical survey starting today on Shipshaw Carbonatite Complex
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA – DIOS EXPLORATION INC. starts today an helicopter-borne magnetic geophysical survey in the scope of its major exploration program on the Shipshaw Carbonatite Complex, Saguenay, Quebec
Evaluation of the Shipshaw carbonatite complex recently discovered by DIOS some seven kilometers from IAMGOLD niobium mine and ferro-niobium plant in St-Honoré, will require a lot of drilling, to be targeted with the magnetic geophysical survey that should help define mineralogical variations within the Complex. Systematic drilling of the mineralogical units will help delineate mineralized zones in the Complex.
The magnetic survey will cover an almost uninhabited area of 40 square kilometres (8 by 5 kilometres), with tight 75 m spacing flight lines.
DIOS is awaiting in the very short term a hundred one-meter long core sample results for every commodity analysis possible to focus further work and analysis. Another 120 samples were sent out two weeks ago, and a further hundred last week. Three holes to date were drilled through the Carbonatite Complex.
DIOS exploration model is up to now the Niobec St-Honoré Carbonatite Complex, a sheeted dyke complex. Historical data indicates Niobec was first discovered through its rare earth core carbonatite and the economic niobium zones later discovered through surrounding drilling campaigns.
