RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Moving weekShiftman,
Here is a clip from our neighbouring VST posted by Hope and Prayer. If you have not been following the politics in that region there has just been an election. It appears that the Kurdish political party will play a major role in this government. Since they have the power to become the Kingmaker in this new government they will ensure that the interests of the Kurdish Government with respect revenue and production sharing are acheived.
Muley
think Kurdistan plays are set up nicely right now. A few days ago,Earlier in the month, Allawi had this to say:
"He [Allawi] blamed Iraq's central governmentfor disagreements that have hampered the development of the oilindustry, including one between Baghdad and the semi-autonomous northernKurdistan region.
TheKurdish government and Baghdad have been at loggerheads for months overoil deals Iraqi Kurdistan signed independently with foreign oil firms, which the central government says was illegal.
Oil exports werehalted as the Kurdish regional government and Baghdad fought overrevenue and production-sharing. The region's natural resources ministersaid a week ago that it was ready to start exporting oil as soon as anew central government was formed.
"There were squabblesbetween the central government and the regional government in Kurdistanand we lost a lot of time because of these problems and it was initiatedby the central government here," Allawi said.
"Weneed to bring this to a halt. We need to get this (oil and gas law) veryfast through the parliament."
So:If he comes out on top, he needs the Kurds, and will play ball. IfMaliki comes out on top, he'll play ball, cause he needs the Kurds.
