The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is inviting the public to comment on an environmental assessment of Shore Gold Inc.'s proposed diamond mine near Prince Albert.
The CEAA issued the invitation Wednesday over the proposed scope of the federal environmental assessment of the Star-Orion South diamond project in the Fort a la Corne Provincial Forest. The scoping document describes the requirements of the federal environmental assessment process. It also identifies key issues to be addressed in the study.
Shore Gold Inc. is proposing to construct, operate, maintain and eventually decommission an open-pit diamond mine and associated infrastructure in the Fort a la Corne forest.
Public comments received by May 31 regarding the assessment will be considered.
More information, and a copy of the draft scoping document, is available at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca under reference number 09-03-46277.
