RE: RE: TWU-STT.........higher achieversTechPerson I am certainly aware of the Rand Formula since I was personally affected by it during my career.
However, upon checking the status of this with two Telus scabs, one in BC and one in Alberta, the picture became a bit murky, as often is the case with labour laws.
These scabs basically chuckled a bit and more or less stated that yes, they are supposed to pay union dues even though they have been turfed out of the union. However, just like they were supposed to pay their union fines for being a scab, the suggestion was that the actual collection of their union dues may have slipped into the same kind of legal morass as collection of the fines has.
The key words were ''supposed to'' - so unless somehow the union locals have access to the personal financial payroll accounts of scabs, who's to know what really has been going on? Not likely Telus administrators would be giving this top priority right?
Oh, and both of my scab contacts pointed out that a bulletproof way around all this legal mumbo jumbo and union posturing was simply quit and morph into a contractor/consultant with Telus's blessings.
