Then all you need is a small warehouse to experiment with optimal temperature, lighting, feed and humidity before you start to produce a ton of castings. Sell and distribute samples with the current inventory slowly and at a big premium to hobby gardeners and at local markets. By the time you figure things out on the production side you'll have some reputation and branding benefits to work with. Do tests with local farmers and greenhouses and build confidence in the product while you slowly build the business.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if this company fails (has it officially failed yet?) the next company to do this will be able to replicate on a shoe-string budget and they won't forget to sell the product. These guys have primed the market a little and made the 5-6 million dollar R&D mistake with no payoff. Someone else is gonna reap the harvest.
