Some thing I've learned while investing in mining stocks over the years is never ever get to enthralled with the high grades and too disenchanted with the low grades. It's all about the economics of the deposit. Open pit versus underground really changes the cost dynamics of a project. Open pit mines are much less costly to operate as you can mine huge volume with low cost. This looks like a good deal.
It was not a deal I suspected that's for certain. I think a lot of investors are selling off simply because they wanted something different such as a pure moly play. This makes me think the pure moly plays were simply priced too high for Thompson Creeks liking. I personally wished they hadn't have offered shares of TCM in the deal because of the dilution at such a low stock price. That said I still think the deal adds value to the company.
I am wondering what the plan is with the cash now. They chose a deal that kept their cash intact. Are they still shopping or is the cash there for the development of their present assets.
I bought more Jan Calls this morning.
