RE: Government funding clinical trials!Let's take a deeper look into yet another great news find by easymoney.....
1) “But ... the province of Saskatchewan is willing to play a funding role.” Premier Brad Wall
This does not actually say they will fund entirely any clinical trials, nor does it disclose how much will be made available, let alone what the max a company could get, IE SSS. Anyone familiar with Canadian politics knows that this is just talk without anything actually behind it; until funding amounts are declared it is just an idea.
2) "By opening constricted veins, he reportedly improved the condition of 65 patients."
This is the actual therapy that Premier Brad Wall is seeking funding for; a vien opening procedure using specialized grafts and tools. An MS sufferer in the article is actually quoted as saying that it's a "plumber's job". Unless I'm completely mistaken (which is possible as I'm not a scientist) this is not in any way related to NTx-488 that SSS has for MS, which regenerates or "matures" neurons. (I also find it odd that the part of this article that actually talks about the specific therapy being advocated for, is not highlighted by easymoney when they highlighted so much more)
3) "a very public declaration that Canada’s snail-paced medical bureaucracy should unleash the purse-strings"
Perfect description of all this actually amounts to; a declaration and call for action in a snail-paced medical bureacracy.
Read the article yourself folks, in no way shape or form does it actual mention any benefit to SSS. Additionally, SSS has funding for it's studies from the University of Calgary; highly unlikely that Saskatchewan government will jump on board to pay for something that Alberta already is.
