The answer is actually quite simple.
The share price by and large is determined by the buying/selling decisions of the countless money/mutual fund managers who trade the vast majority of the Telus shares each and every day.
Not by the actions of any disgruntled retail Telus investors like you.
And they don't care one bit about what you see, or think you see, from your vantage point. Nor do they care that you have switched to Shaw for your dial tone, or that you would never buy any Telus shares yourself.
All they care about is making as much money for their clients (and thus themselves) as possible. So when more of them are buyng than are selling, then the price of Telus - or any other stock for that matter - will go up.
Like I said, this is really basic 101 stuff.
