Not quite. It was EV vs GM's Oligarchy. It was GM that pulled the plug on the EV, and GM lost billions of dollars in what could have revolutionized the car industry. Once GM management saw the potential of the EV and the radical changes it would entail - like low vehicle maintenance, they did everything they could do to stop it. In the end, GM went bankrupt because they clung onto their old gas guzzling technology to the very end and resisted change.
