RE: RE: Science Discussion
RE: RE: Science DiscussionYes, basically they *infiltrate* a plant with a form of agrobacteria, which has a viral sequences that they want to have replicated to basically accelerate the production of a specific protein. I think Russian scientists invested this method. So they get around the vaccine manufacturing process differently, but ultimately they are producing vaccines with or without sterile virus (it doesn't say). Sterile virus simply doesn't have any DNA. Ie. VLP. Not sure about this product though.
VLP is a sterile virus replication manufacturing process. So there is no patent infringement. Not even close. So both companies are trying to get a piece of the vaccine pie. iBio hasn't even applied for a clinical trial, they are still at the mouse and ferret stage. So they are years away from being a competitor, whether or not there vaccines are good.
I expect NVAX will be and is there biggest competitor. I think NVAX uses fermentation? Can't remember.
The whole dang thing is a crap shoot. BUT, if and once MDG gets an H1N1 vaccine out, that is monster money. We are years from that though.
Bon voyage mes amis.
