RE: Wheatware Declares Bankrupty

Maker of Wheatware, Cornware "green" products files for bankruptcy

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A Grand Island manufacturer of biodegradable clothes hangers, golf tees, guitar picks and other items has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The Wheatware products of Midwest Manufacturing Co. Inc. had been featured as one of the "Modern Marvels" on the History Channel in August 2008.

Documents say Midwest Manufacturing filed its bankruptcy petition on Jan. 25 in Lincoln. It declared nearly $1.32 million in assets and nearly $4.08 million in liabilities.

There is no public phone listing for Warren Kirsch, who signed the bankruptcy documents as chief executive officer/secretary.

A call to his bankruptcy attorney was not immediately returned Monday. Nor was a call to the company headquarters in Lake Forest, Calif.
