MENDOZA HAS BEEN HARMEDMendoza Has been harmed
Given the irrational decision of provincial legislators to reject the draft San Jorge, I dare say that once more the province is harmed by misguided proposals.
The lack of a long-term policy, pressure groups contributing little to the development of the provincial economy and pre-election political speculation, leaving once again Mendoza without the possibility to exploit its natural resources. Let us remember that 90% of our provincial surface are mountains, only 3% is cultivated area and many Mendoza does not have decent income, proceeds from the low profitability of many industrial, agricultural and commercial activities. We also have other deficit enumerate them would take several hours and perhaps lose the time, before the mediocrity of a political leadership that does not listen, it proposes no serious discussion, who does not know to define strategies for growth and to which only you are interested in the results of the elections.
We have been much discussed on the industrial promotion, but I think that with this level of discussion, with this lack of proposals, this oppose things just in case, will leave us without industries and surely not we will have nothing to promote.
Many employers, workers and ordinary citizens, are not pending the Organization of marches, make posters with images of horror that infuse fear are not contaminated by the lie and neither sleep in ignorance for not reporting properly. I still hear comments from people who talk of cyanide, when there is a law that prohibits its use, I still hear talk of water of the stream El Tigre, when this nothing brings the Northern oasis and is lost in a swamp. There are still those who think that Saint George Hill is the cordillera de Los Andes, when its magnitude is less than the peak of glory.
Today I feel pity for the future of our province that will continue to be impoverished to the beat of everyday errors.
All the work of entrepreneurs and some leaders to give Mendoza a broader production profile is nothing, and surely we will see how some companies are today beginning to look at San Juan and not by the industrial promotion, but because employment opportunities are better than in our province.
Water scarcity is a major problem, which will not solve by banning mining. The solution is to invest in pressurized piping channels, waterproof irrigation systems, etc., but there is no adequate resources for these investments. These resources those could have brought mining development, that sustainable farms, with the application of the law as befits, generates many income, against those little serious reviews of meagre resources (say) that contributes the mining. Perhaps there are sectors where not interested in that the law is applied to mining because perhaps also fall them on his shoulders and from there will have to take care of the water that today they wasted, polluted and also receive it almost free.
We will have from here that define that you model productive we want, that the current is running out and there are too many options. We must begin to seriously discuss our future, which must pass above all things for the welfare of all. If we ban the sources of work, significant investments and allow ourselves to carry through the emotions of many that negatively influenced them to oppose mining, will never worthy wages, the first level for all health and general well-being.
