RE: RE: RE: hahahahahahahahahaa
I quit because it just hit me that I don't want to do it anymore, either there or here. And frankly, I don't like being associated with people like viking and drj, both of whom are people with whom I would never associate in my real life. Ten years ago there was a certain novelty about hiding behind an alias, a sense that anything goes, be what you want to be. Unlike most posters, these two haven't grown out of that. Drj is even trying to be an alias of an alias, trying to be the original drj. What the hell kind of person gets his jollies from that? There are many posters, and we pretty much know who they are, that we sense are the same in person as they are as posters. I suspect that many of us would enjoy calling each other "friends".

I have tried to fight off the destructive nature of these guys. Since 2008, most investors don't need jerks like viking, atlaslulu, bookem, crocus and many others to be trying to destroy confidence or to otherwise be destructive. I think we all pretty much need all the good help we can get yet these guys frighten too many others away. I try to never offer anything but considered opinion about stocks but I also engage these other guys rather than letting them dominate the forum and intimidate others. So I take them on, sometimes with anger but more often by simply bettering them with whatever tools I can muster, be it humour, sarcasm or knowledge.
.
But I'm tired of it and I'm tired of not really having much help. And worse, I'm often lumped in with the others because I challenge them. I've gone away for months at a time in the past. These guys don't stop because somebody else goes away. They take it as a victory, which is how they assess everything they do, always as a win or a loss.
.
I have had the pleasure over the years of learning the actual identities of some of these guys. Some have been closer to me and people I know than they thought. I don't expose them publicly. What I have done is whisper in the ear of people they know and with whom they do business. There are a couple of people who have lost opportunities because of their behaviour and they don't know it, or they don't know why something didn't work out.

There is a belief among some people that innocence and not being caught are the same things. This belief is very common among business people and politicians. They are wrong. Behind drj, viking and others there are real people and what we see here is part of whom these real people are. I don't want to be a part of that anymore.
