Look at Route1's most recent proxy circular, they are no different.
Each member of management makes $X per year. If they were paid entirely in salary then why would they care about the stock price?
Instead a significant portion of their income is in the form of stock options. This creates a huge incentive for them to maximize the stock price, aligning their objectives with those of the shareholders.
It's a very simple concept, but I can see by your posts Simon that you're still having trouble understanding the concept.
