RE: PHEV RAM 23 MPG vs 14 MPG city gasFrom what I have read this is a complicated formula to work out, many things must be considered but overall I think this truck is going to be a gamechanger. First of all we have to recognize the conditions they are being used in, these are worktrucks undergoing heavy use all day by municipalities and various companies. I believe the mpg's would be much higher for personal use because for instance if you are driving to work and then parking the vehicle all day the truck can be driven in cd mode much more often then if you were using it all day. I think that is why they state you should be able to obtain 32mpg or more with this truck. They are still reviewing the data and will start making more adjustments based on the customer feedback and data from the instruments in the vehicles so we could still see more improvements as well. From what I have read this truck is different from most other hybrids as well, it uses the two mode transmission and unlike the volt for instance it goes in and out of cd mode rather than staying in cd mode until the battery is almost drained and then switching the motor on to recharge the batteries. I would love to hear the feedback from the people using the trucks.
