The suggestion that STB might get bought out is the speculation of an uninformed "investor".

STB is rising because of its high dividend, simple as that. Everyone is chasing yield.

I prefer the debentures, as STB's financials are impossible to figure out, and the dividend may not be as safe as most assume. The debs get paid first, and that's where I want to be.
