patents?

recall reading on here a while back about the afore mentioned ............ what are they and how much could they be worth to potential buyer? Can anybody elaborate on this? haven't checked on this one for a long while -- seems not much has changed (if it weren't so sad, it would be quite the comedy). I don't have time to go back through the posts to find the discussion of the patents .......... just thought someone, anyone, could shed some light.
