RE: RE: RE: Finally, the Big One

sureshots, I sense anger and jealousy from you with what I see and I don't know where all came from nor do I particularily care,.........especially today!

Do you know what is significant about today, small one? Today is the anniversary of the loss of the Ocean Ranger. 30 years ago today I was 34 years old and was a senior drilling foreman with Mobil Oil on the Grand Banks, right next to the Ocean Ranger. For the sake of trivia, I was the supervisor on the Ranger for a part of 1981 and drilled the highest recorded penetration rates in the history of drilling on the Grand Banks with that rig using optimum bit hydraulics and what I had learned from working alondside World class offshore drilling people, starting in 1967. This was after experience on both drilling and service rigs on land in Alberta and Northern BC. The 84 men lost on the Ocean Ranger were all my friends. Later, 37 Russian sailors were lost when they turned to answer Ocean Rangers MayDay call and the seas knocked their cargo loose and they began a list, eventually sinking. About 8 hours before the Ranger disappeared off radar, our rig took a shot that nearly rolled over in one shot. Keep in mind that the rig would have dwarfed McMahon Stadium so that should give you an idea of what chance they had on that freezing stormy night. Every year I remember those 121 friends and I am bothered that someone as small thinking and insignificant as you would disrupt my tranquil thoughts on lost friends and life itself.

I'm too old a cat to be bothered by a wee small kitten but I do have a suggestion for you. If you are connected to the oilfield in any way, see what you can do to develop a learning frame of mind. Right now, you are an embarassment to the industry
