RE: Question for vestmed I believe EFL will be competitive in the PHEV space but they definately need financing, if you look on the Chatanooga chamber of commerce site you will see how close EFL was to building a plant in the US. If it weren't for the Solyndra failure as well as Ener1 and Beacon Power I think they would have recieved the loan from the DOE and the plant would have been built. I still believe Chrysler will bring the two PHEV platforms to production and possibly more, it stands to reason they will use EFL's batteries because of all the work they have put in together. To start over with another company is very time and cost consuming. The PHEV program is successful so far and you can bet as Sankar stated other OEM's are watching and thier batteries are respected in the industry. As far as A123 and BYD, A123 has more power density than EFL from what I have read and EFL has the edge in energy density, in the PHEV space I think a slight edge goes to power density. BYD is only able to beat other battery companies on cost I don't think they can compete with the top battery companies in quality. This is only my opinion based on what I have read. As far as A123 I don't know if they are going to survive, they still have a ways to go to prove they are viable. I know they have many deals in the works but the more batteries they make the more money they lose. I have considered investing in them as well but I am going to wait until I see them turn the loses around, they are losing money at an alarming rate. With EFL's energy density I believe they have the advantage in the grid storage space, they have partnered with some big utilities and should be successful there. In the last conference call the CEO was excited about the EV space again, I think because of the Ram program there is interest from other OEM's. If Chrysler decides to go ahead with the PHEV programs and select EFL they should have no problem getting the financing to build a new plant IMO. The fact that they have a green manufacturing process is icing on the cake that could sway some companies. Should be an interesting year.
