RE: testing RONA's management

RE: testing RONA's management

Acquiring Rona would allow a low risk quick entry for Lowes - without addiing capacity and destroying profitability of the Canadian market. Lowes could bring leading edge technology, systems, and  management to bare - and improve Rona's poor profitablility in short order. Add to that, the diversification factor - Canada's economy, especially in the west, is firing on all cylinders - in direct contrast to America's current anemic economy and I think you have a very strategic and accretive play. Canadian business taxes are the lowest around. Another plus. Smaller stores that Lowes chooses not to keep could easily be sold off to smaller players like Kent's and/or Home Hardware. And voila, Lowes quickly gets to dominate Home Depot in Canada  at a bargain price n record time, ready for the next bull market in construction. Let's hope both parties can see fit to making it happen quickly.
