I believe we will see in the future that the Shaftsbury is indeed economically feasible to mine. If it contains rare earths as suspected. We already know it holds the base metals and I believe I read that the Belle Fourche contains REE https://dnimetals.com/PDF/TechRpt_BKT_Maiden_Resource_REE_Supplement_2012-01-29.pdf TABLE 14.1.

This zone is 100 metres thick, so over the same area as the original 1.5 billion ton zone could add another 7.5-8.75 billion tonnes of resource.

That is of course if REE and specialty metals can be recovered economically.
