I have heard this time and time again directed to me and around me, but no one has taken the time to explain how this works. Someone owes me money and can not pay all of it, so if I forgive part of the loan and let them keep that portion of my money instead of taking equity in lieu... then some how I will end up with more. Please, someone do the math for me.

 

Lestat, you own some AC.B. Air Canada was taken over by the debtholders a number of years ago. Please tell me how the new owners lost out by not giving some of their money to the old equity holders? Did the price of fuel go up or did people refuse to fly on their airline because of it? 

 

I am all ears for anything that is not totally convoluted fiction.
