RE: Roller coaster
RE: Roller coaster Kettl, you keep forgetting that democracy is in early stages in Kyrgyzstan. They still find it difficult and will for quite some time to navigate through the democratic processes. In addition you have laws that are far from perfect and sometime contradict each other. Culture of understanding law and I am not even talking about obeying it is not there. It takes generations to change it. What is encouraging though is that they try to get there. You said “ I don't know if this leading party is interested and has the balls to stand up to tell that "congress woman" to s.up.” In my opinion that “proves” that Kurgyz republic might be on the right track because if you know history of that region that exactly what would have happened in the past – one or a selective few order someone to shut up and disappear and it’s done. I see why most you of you guys who lived all your life in US or Canada find it challenging to understand what is going on there. You’ve never experienced that and I am not blaming you for that. But you can’t take you western experience and thought process and blindly apply it to other countries, nations, cultures. It just doesn’t work this way. It takes time and experience. For example Stans (IMO) showed the government how the deal with unbiased accusations – just take that individual to the court and make them “pay” for the false accusations instead of debating in the press. This is how people learn – on one side “good” ones learn that you could take matters to the court and defend your righteousness there, on the other hand “bad” ones learn that there is responsibility and accountability for your actions and words ill intended. So if you don’t understand and fear political uncertainty in KP – then sell and walk away. And I’ve been saying here multiple time invest in Stans what you can afford to loose as things could get ugly at the flip of a switch. And even if KP seems to be on the right track for becoming (very slowly and painfully) a true democracy, its centuries of history is a heavy burden and magnet for things to reverse quickly.
