RE: New Amy Clean Mining article Thank you
Tessier reveals that founding member of the CMA, Kemetco Research, is in the process of developing a cyanide-free extraction process that would completely eliminate the risk of cyanide contamination.
Manganese is another large industry in South Africa, with the country hosting 80% of global reserves.
A new hydrometallurgical process, developed by diversified exploration and development company American Manganese, dramatically reduces the energy demands for manganese processing, making the entire process more environment-friendly by eliminating the need for roasting.
This process also recycles the majority of its water, lowering the demand for outside water sources.
“These technologies are tackling some of the largest universal challenges in the mining industry, using alternative solutions. Some of the most exciting advancements aren’t necessarily technologies that explore how to reduce water consumption, for instance, but those that question whether water is needed at all. It’s radical thinking that will pioneer new alternatives to current standards and practices,” Tessier states.
Meanwhile, he remarks that there is much interest in recycling and energy efficiency in the mining industry.
