Performance of Asian markets was mostly positive overnight. The Hang Seng gained 0.7%, while the Shanghai Composite edged up 0.2% for the session. In Japan, the Nikkei advanced 0.1% and in Australia the S&P/ASX slid 0.7%. China’s stocks trended higher in anticipation of market stabilization measures ahead of the country’s leadership transition in November. Overall, the sentiment toward China’s growth prospects has improved on the heels of the last week’s strong economic figures. Meanwhile in Japan exports slid 10.3% in September from a year earlier, increasing pressure on the government to add stimulus.
