this book value is severely undervalued as does not take into account many important factors that will aid RIM in it's comeback. The new CEO, the new outlook, the new willingness to listen to developers are all great, but those are all something any company can do. What not anyone can do, that RIM is in the process of doing, is building a revolutionary platform that incorporated RIMs core fundamentals: efficiency and security. No company, i repeat, NO company can match RIMs level of security. This coupled with their new new OS will be a driving factor in the company's future success.
The Power of QNX - RIM is not just building an OS, they are building a "lifestyle." This QNX system will be integrated in a lot of ways in our mobile life that no one thought possible. Did you see that digital dash on the porche? Did you see how RIM took something conventional and turned it into something revolutionary? Yup, expect more of that.
Efficiency and Security - RIM is famous for taking something that everyone needs and uses, and turning it into something that is incredibly efficient that no one can do without. In the last couple years they strayed off the path a bit, but they didn't lose their ability to get right back on. Their secure network is something that cannot be challenged and will allow them to take their brand into new markets that can utilize their upcoming products and platforms.
