And you certainly cannot disarm the US populace. The only organization that could is the US military and have a look at what states they predominantly originate from.
The only thing you can do is try to ban the future sale of assault weapons and choke off parts availability for those already on the market. In doing that you'd you have to shut down un regulated gun bazaars and flea markets. That is nearly impossible. There really is no solution for the US. I know non gun advocates who own and carry guns under the premise that everyone else does. It is no different than being a defensive driver for these folks. If you live in a major US city, you almost have to have access to a gun.
There is hope for Canada... Has anyone watched Discovery or A&E lately... Sons of Guns, Gator Hunters, Bayou Cops, Duck Dynasty, Top Shot etc. etc. With the hockey strike I have noticed that this stuff is everywhere.... Where did all this gun oriented junk on Canadian TV come from. Every evening there is a program on with automatic weapons and explosives in the hands of "normal" people. Obviously Canadians are fascinated with this garbage, or it wouldn't be on our programming.
I would have no problem if the CRTC just KO'd all the gun oriented, US programming that just showed up out of nowhere these last couple of years.
