I'm American, but I'm starting to wonder where America stands in the world, and I don't like it.  What on earth is the U.S. doing opining on behalf of a 100 or so herders that come any where near OT?  What game is it playing?  I just don't get it, particularly coming from a nation that has put more effort than any other into promoting business (see millions of Vietnamese killed under the so-called "Domino Theory" -- a thinly veiled strategy on behalf of US multinationals to keep or gain markets by forestalling socialist nationalism).  Rank hypocrisy criticising a company building a huge mine in a _____ing desert.  Yea, water is a problem no ____t.

Maybe the US is simply pandering to the GOM in the hopes of gaining influence in a country where they have very little.  Any way you look at it, its ugly.  Shame on whatever organization drafted the report that the abstention was based on, even if it has some facts right.  Note to U.S. -- keep out of this, none of your 'business'.
