Why weren’t the proceeds of the Elbow River sale simply distributed to AvenEx shareholders?
The use of the Elbow River proceeds to pay off all outstanding debt, and have AvenEx continue in an 18,000 boe/d entity (vs. ~3,000 boe/d) offers a greater long term sustainable dividend for the shareholder rather than (i) a special dividend of those proceeds, (ii) stand-alone continuation with a greatly reduced dividend, or (iii) an outright sale at depressed trading levels.
