clarification of jobs myth and level of opposition

clarification of jobs myth and level of opposition

jobs are good is a repeated myth that is not supported by current plunge in market for coal and economic slowdown and shift to alternative power in China.  thousands of coal miners have lost and are losing their jobs worldwide and Walter Energy in BC is "idling" two coal mines where hundreds of miners will lose their jobs because of present market and bleak prospects for a resurgence of high coal prices and demand.

Another aspect of the jobs myth is that coal mine expansion is part of BC jobsplan.  Yet, the government permitted HD to hire hundreds of Chinese miners who work for less wages and who will endure harmful work conditions.

The "guy" who knocked on doors to report only 7/1000 were concerned about Raven is MP John Duncan a loyal Christy Clark liberal who lost his government position representing FN because of conflict of interest and is politically obliged to support Clark's coal mine expansion policy,.  What he is not reporting is the thousands of signatures (more than 5000) sent to his office protesting the mine because of its threat to ground and surface waters or the protests outside his office over the last few years, or the growing list of over 80 groups that have serious concerns about the mine and that reside in his constituency. What he is NOT reporting is every local government has called for a transparent and thorough environmental review and independent aquifer mapping.
