everyone's forgetting how this really works...First and foremost, hedgefunds rule the market. Plain and simple. They are in all the analysts pockets, they are sleeping with the CEOs--by and large, they always win. This is there last shot of covering under $10. They have succeeded. Congrats.
Second, there are forces at play that the common people cannot simply understand, not will they be priviledged to. This was released a week early because something big is happening next week. There will be some announcement (ie. buyout, potential suitors, government funding, foreign takeover, JV, w.e) that will send the stock soaring once more--the higher-ups need to load up, hence the dip.
Why not just annouce this next week? Think about it. Blackberry has always dropped the bomb on earnings, never has this happened before.
BLACKBERRY IS NOT DONE! They don't just have an "okay" product, they have a GREAT PRODUCT, and businesses are willing to invest in it! Yes, their marketing needs work. But why spend the money when they will be selling the company next month...
4500 people being laid off...YOU DON"T NEED THEM WHEN YOU ARE SELLING THE COMPANY. This is not because the company cant pay them, it's because they dont need them. The books need to look good.
If they were really "in trouble," why would they keep opening new stores in other countries and buying property/rental space? North America doesn't matter in the large scheme of things. The states only accounts for 10% of their subscrib
