Reports like that do not do justice to the mining situation in Peru. They tend to be alarmist.
Although it is true that several mining projects have suffered a number of set backs lately (eg Conga Tia Maria, etc), the industry as a whole remains vibrant. The mining industry represents 60% of the revenue to the State. No president will ever sacrifice the income and the prosperity it represents and yield to the agitators. And I should know. I am originally from Peru and a mining professional.
And with respect to DNG, this company is firmly established in Peru for quite a while now and is not in an area that has experienced revolt. I see this drop in the stock as an excellent opportunity to accumulate. The informal mining activity which is so harmful to the environment and to the image of the country does not affect DNG operations.
