Board of directors election results

Board of directors election resultsI saw these results on a COS press release .  The interesting thing to me was how many shares were not voted either for or withheld, which was about 245 million shares. By my calculations that is a  half of the total shares outstanding were not voted.  Not sure how that compares to normal or to public companies as a whole.
Nominee Votes For Votes Withheld Ian A. Bourne 235,424,409 (98.06%) 4,661,758 (1.94%) Gerald W. Grandey 238,046,853 (99.15%) 2,039,314 (0.85%) Arthur N.
